Sarah Riess advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property law, with emphasis on trademark issues across a range of industries, including the financial and fashion industries. Sarah’s practice focuses on trademark and copyright litigation in federal court and before the US Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Sarah has litigated numerous cases in federal and state courts. She regularly participates in all phases of litigation including, drafting pleadings, engaging in discovery, drafting briefs and dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, negotiating settlement agreements, and taking cases to trial. Recently, Sarah successfully appealed the dismissal of a case in the First District Appellate Court of Illinois.
During law school, Sarah clerked for an intellectual property law firm. She was also a competitor at the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court competition.
