Samantha advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on litigation involving trademark and copyright issues across a range of industries, including the financial and fashion industries. Samantha litigates trademark and copyright cases in federal court and before the US Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Samantha has managed 100s of cases in federal and state court, including all aspects of pre-suit activity and litigation, from intake through arbitration or trial. Samantha’s litigation experience includes the taking and defending of both discovery and evidence depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts. Samantha has successfully briefed and argued summary judgment motions, including drafting over 60 pages of briefing on summary judgment in a trade dress infringement case and winning an appeal upholding summary judgment following oral argument before the Second District Appellate Court. In addition to taking cases to trial, Samantha works with clients to evaluate all types of alternative dispute resolution, including settlement negotiations, mediations, and pre-trial conferences.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Samantha was a legal assistant at the Chicago intellectual property law firm of Leydig, Voit & Mayer, where Samantha served as lead assistant for a 10+ attorney litigation team on one of the firm’s largest patent infringement and trade secret cases, in addition to regular support for USPTO filings and intellectual property prosecution.
